Authors

The Authors of the selected abstracts received via email the confirmation of the acceptance by the Scientific Committee.

Their presentation will now be put forward into the program scheduling plan. The time permitted for the presentations varies according to the available time in your presentation session. However, most oral presentations have been given 20 minute slots that include a few minutes for questions. Please check the program when it is available to see the time allocated to you.

An important integrity point the Scientific Committee has made about some papers, is that no presentation should be used for product promotion. Therefore only the science and technology should be presented. Trade names, product names, and obvious company product promotion is not allowed. Please ensure that any presentation slides are altered accordingly. Should anyone seek guidance on this aspect then please contact me.

The very high quality of the 80 papers selected has already ensured that our Water Loss Europe 2012 conference will have top class papers, on a large variety of topics associated with reducing losses. Also it is noticeable that almost every water loss expert from around Europe will be attending the conference, and people from at least 20 countries.

The best hotels in terms of location and quality have been selected for our conference and are offered to our conference speakers and attendees at discount rates through the conference web site. So be quick to take advantage of this as Ferrara will be fully booked in occasion of the conference and the water fair. For any additional information visit www.waterlosseurope.com or contact Michela Giangrasso at exhibition@waterlosseurope.com

It is very important that the Speaker’s registration is made by 15th March 2012 (Deadline for Early Bird Registration) in order to secure your presentation slot allocated, otherwise your space could be re-allocated to others.

Although the submission of a paper is no requirement, we like to encourage you to do so. Only papers received in a timely manner will be included in the conference proceedings and will be considered for publication in the Journal ‘Water Science and Technology: Water Supply’ after a peer review process. Please use the attached template and email to committee@waterlosseurope.com  before April 20th, 2012. It would be appreciated if you could limit your paper to 10 pages.

Early Career Water Loss Symposium

An ‘Early Career Water Loss Symposium’ will be held at Ferrara University to serve as an opportunity for students (and those recently graduated) to engage with their peers, to foster contacts and to participate in an important developmental exercise of presenting their work and encourage their interest in the subject. A special fund will cover the participation cost for the best abstracts “under 32 years old” presenters (selected by the scientific committee). The author must be born after 1-1-1980 and must be the speaker at the Conference session.

The ‘Early Career Water Loss Symposium’ is kindly sponsored by ILMSS Ltd, Water Loss Research & Analysis Ltd, and Fondazione AMGA.

Fondazione AMGA was established in 2003 to initiate, promote and further cultural initiatives aimed at safeguarding nature and environment, particularly in the field of water resources and water management. More info at: http://www.fondazioneamga.org/

ILMSS Ltd was set up in 2003 by Allan and Janet Lambert. In 1994, Allan developed the BABE (Bursts and Background Estimates) concept of components of leakage, based on  the primary influential parameters. As Chair of the first IWA Water Loss Task Force (1996-2000), he developed the Unavoidable Real Losses formula, the Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI), and the IWA standard Water Balance. A Fellow of IWA, he is recognised as a foremost international expert on Leakage and Pressure Management. More than 500 recipients in 63 countries now have ILMSS Ltd LEAKSSuite software for water loss management (http://www.leakssuite.com). Allan now also manages the research and consultancy Company Water Loss Research and Analysis Ltd. (wlranda@live.co.uk), and suggested the Early Career symposium based on a similar initiative by British Hydrological Society in 1990.
